Working my way through the tac systems range at the moment and 2 stand out products for me are the tyre dressing and moonlight.

Moonlight…. What’s the product blurb?
Product Description: Moonlight is an oil-based maintenance coating, containing 20-25% SiO2. Moonlight lasts up to 9 months as sole protection while greatly enhancing gloss to vehicle surfaces. While primarily used as a topper to SiO2 coatings, Moonlight functions as a highly durable stand alone coating. A deep gloss with SiO2 protection that lasts up to twice as long as traditional waxes and sealants, Moonlight helps vehicles maintain that ‘just detailed’ look.

Durability: 9 months.

Common Uses: When applied all Exterior vehicle surfaces and to wheels, Moonlight helps maintenance cleaning super fast and simple.

Warnings: Wear gloves. Ensure application area is free of loose contamination.

Directions: Clean and dry all exterior vehicle surfaces thoroughly. Apply out of direct sun to cool vehicle panels.

1] With a dedicated MF suede or MF applicator pad, apply a small amount of moonlight to the applicator then begin to work it in, one panel at a time. It spreads out very well… a little goes a long way.

2] Once applied allow moonlight to dwell for 1-3 minutes, then using a clean soft MF towel, buff the surface until all excess product is removed.

* Moonlight requires 2-4 hours of cure time before water exposure.

What was my experience of the product? Well I couldn’t have found it easier. I applied like a ceramic with an applicator block in straight overlapping lines. Allowed a few mins cure and buffed off with a short nap map cloth.

The tyre dressing isn’t really a gel but not thin water consistency. I automatically presume ld this was a solvent based dressing given the durability however brand suggests that the product actively prevents tyre cracking and improving elasticity. More info is definitely needed on this but I’ve been massively impressed so far. Its clear the dressing protects as well as dresses.

Body work was prewashed, safe washed and subjected to a 3 stage decontamination process. Paint work was machine polished to remove the signs of bad washing and lack of care. Paint was protected and trims and tyres dressed.

The car went on to be on the winning club stand at Dubshed.

What does the brand say about this product?

“A superior car polish for use on both new and used paintwork. The advanced formulation free gently removes mild oxidation, fills swirl marks and leaves a durable protective film and water repellency. Contains paint cleansers and high grade carnauba wax. The special blend of abrasives remove minor defects leaving the paint protected by a special blend of polymers and carnauba wax.”

Directions for use:

Apply by hand or machine and remove with a suitable microfibre cloth.
If using a DA or rotary polisher, use soft applicator pads for best results. May be layered with our Detailer liquid wax or Crystal cream wax for extra gloss and protection.

My experience with the product:

I’ve used on a couple of different motors now and enjoy the product. What is the product supposed to do? Well it’s an All in One polish which is designed to fill minor imperfections, cleanse the paint and provide an element of protection. Be under no illusion , this product does not claim to be as good as a glaze for filling nor does it claim to have the durability of a sealant, however, its designed to be a quick easy product that’s a bit of a compromise compared to 2 products and 2 stages. Does it do this? Yes and well. I see it being attractive for presale valets and second hand car dealers ie it makes a good impact in a small space of time with minimal effort. Via machine I found it can be easy to over work the product certainly when temps are high. Keeping the pad moist and remembering that this product isn’t made to correct will ensure you get the best from it. You are applying it to paint, not using it to remove some paint. It therefore doesn’t need to be “worked” or broken down like a compound. I used it on a finishing pad and was impressed with how quickly you could make quite a big impact. I wouldn’t suggest allowing to cure for long, it may dust with long cures in high panel temps. By hand it’s a complete doddle, easy on and very easy removed. Will certainly use again. I have attached a few pics where this has been used.

Swirl marks are super fine scratches on the surface of your car’s paint and are caused by improper washing and drying techniques, incorrect use of buffers/polishers, using dirty chamois and wash mitts or using automated car washes. Dark coloured cars such as black and navy show up the swirl marks more prominently as they reflect the light, however all colour paints will get swirl marks.

How to eliminate swirl marks

Prewash the vehicle using our Citri Prewash followed by a snowfoam. Our Blizzard snowfoam has anti-mar additives to ensure that marring is minimized whether the surface is cleaned with high pressure washing or manually washed with wash mitt or sponge. Once snowfoam has been thoroughly rinsed, a Detailer spray can be applied to wet car to aid drying and enhance shine. Use a clean, good quality drying towel.

The only way to remove swirl marks is to polish the paint using a high quality car polish such as our new Autopia Black Diamond car polish.

If your swirl marks are heavy, you should use a cutting compound first to remove the heavy marks such as Angelwax Resurrection and restore using Angelwax Redemption.

“So finally got a chance to use Autopias new black range… very impressed with everything I used

First of all was the blizzard snow foam… its exactly like the name itself…like a blizzard hit the car…. very impressed with this foam and has a dilution rate of 1000:1…. very impressed with the cleaning power also.

Next was onto the iron remover Force. Another great product that I was very impressed with… I’ve used some iron removers before and went back to a panel after washing away and sprayed some more and they drew out more iron…. this product removed it all in one go and will be the product I will be using from now on..

All steps were taking as in 2 bucket wash, tar removal, clar bar…. just not mentioned as I am only reviewing the products I have used from the Autopia black range.

As u can see there is very heavy oxidation on the paintwork….. the budget was tight on this car so we decided to go for a 1 stage correction using Regenerate from Angelwax which is a medium cut compound and swirl remover. I used a yellow medium cut Lake Country pad on a Rupes lhr15 polisher. As seen in the photos it has taken the oxidation away and left very little haziness from the compound… the product was a little dusty but nothing too hard to work with.

The last step was to bring out the gloss of the paintwork. I decided to go with Crystal which is a hybrid wax/sealant. This product goes on with ease and again was impressed by it. For me it took a bit longer to buff off than the usual waxes I would use but again nothing to moan about as the extra work was well worth it with the gloss/shine left on the paintwork…

All in all very happy with the products used and cant wait to try out the rest of the stuff I got.”
