Chemical Guys offer Self-Centering Pads in many varieties, read below to see which pads will work best for your vehicle.

	Yellow Heavy Cutting Pad – Use this pad to apply compounds or polishes to remove severe oxidation, swirls, and scratches in conjunction with a polishing compound. It is the most aggressive and should only be used on oxidized and older finishes. Always follow this pad with an orange pad and a fine polish and then a white pad to refine the paint until it is smooth.
	Orange Medium-Heavy Cutting Pad – This firm, high density foam is ideal for scratch and defect removal. The orange foam offers the correction of a typical compounding pad while at the same time allowing the polishing ability of light cut foam pad. When used with heavier compounds it will remove moderate swirls and scratches with little or no haze. It s an all around pad that will work on most light to moderate imperfections.
	Green Heavy Polishing Pad – This pad is used by Mercedes Benz at OEM level and is designed to be used with a random orbital polisher (like the Porter Cable) It produces less spot heating and has a unique compression/load/deflection ratio which means it conforms quickly to contours. It is a high strength foam with 60 pores per sq. inch yet is softer and more forgiving than our regular foams which have 80 pores per sq. inch.This pad is tough enough to remove swirls and scuffs while at the same time producing a high gloss swirl free finish. This foam is also ideal for applying one-step cleaner waxes. It is a balance of polishing and finishing that is perfect for all-in-one product application.
	White Medium -Light Polishing Pad – Less dense foam formula for the application of waxes, micro-fine polishes and sealants. This pad has very light cutting power so its perfect for pre-wax cleaners. It is the most well used pad as it is ideal for application of pre-wax cleansers as well as many finishing polishes such as Pro-Polish Or FP-Final Polish.`
	Blue Glaze & Cleaner Foam Pad – Unique Composition complements all glazes and light surface cleaners perfectly delivering a super fine finish for use with ultra fine polishes life FP or any glaze.
	Black Finishing Foam – Composition is firm enough to withstand added pressure during final finishing to remove buffer swirls. It has no cut and will apply thin, even coats of waxes, sealants, and glazes.
	Red Perfection Pad Ultra Fine Finishing Pad – This pad has a ultra soft composition for applying refined paste waxes and sealants as well as crème waxes. Flat pad provides full contact with paint surface to minimize the pressure applied by the user.

The Yellow cutting pad is Quantum’s heaviest hitter. The heavy-cutting pad removes severe and deep defects like swirls, scratches, oxidation, and water spots to restore clarity and reflection to painted surfaces. Detailers start every paint restoration by polishing a test spot with the least-aggressive combination of cutting pads and polish to determine the gentlest way to achieve perfection. The heavy cut of Chemical Guys Yellow Quantum pads is best reserved as a last resort when lighter Orange and Green Quantum pads cannot remove the heaviest and ugliest swirls, scratches, and oxidation.

The Orange Medium-Cutting Quantum Pads are perfect for removing light to moderate swirls, scratches, water spot etching, and oxidation with any dual action or rotary polisher.

The Orange Quantum Pad is the workhorse of the Quantum system. The medium-cutting pad removes light to moderate defects like swirls, scratches, oxidation, and water spots to restore gloss, depth, and reflection to painted surfaces. Detailers start every paint restoration by polishing a test spot with the least-aggressive combination of cutting pads and polish to determine the gentlest way to achieve perfection. The medium cut of Orange Quantum pads balances enough power to remove the majority of defects from most finishes, but is gentle enough for even the most sensitive paint jobs.

The Green Heavy-Polishing Quantum Pads gently remove swirls, scratches, water spot etching, and oxidation from softer and more sensitive paint finishes.

The Green Quantum Polishing pads are softer and gentler than cutting pads, which use coarser foam to make more friction and remove more paint. The heavy polishing action of Green Quantum Pads is perfect for removing scratches and swirls and restoring gloss and shine on softer paint in one step. Check results for desired effects: if enough defects are removed, move on to finishing with sealant and wax; if more cut is needed, consider switching to an Orange cutting pad.

The White Light-Medium Quantum Polishing Pads restore gloss, reflection, and a deep-wet shine after removing heavier swirls and scratches with harder cutting pads.

The White Quantum Polishing pads are soft and gentle, and restore a deep wet shine to painted finishes. The refining action of White Quantum pads is perfect for enhancing gloss after cutting away heavy swirls and scratches with harder compounds and cutting pads. Use White Quantum pads with fine polishes like V36 Cutting Polish or V38 Final Polish. The Blue Quantum Glazing Pads have no cut, and are perfect for spreading finishing products over painted finishes.

The Blue Quantum Pads are light duty finishing pads.
